Unfortunately, you wont be able to walk for a long distance before your back and legs start to hurt from the weight of the baby. Also, you don't want to be out strolling a long ways from home in case your water breaks, etc.
Just hang in there, I know it sound lame, but the baby will come when the time is right. There is really nothing you can do at home to induce labor.
Oh yeah, there is an old wives tale about having orgasms,...some say that will induce labor. Also, much safer than strolling around the neighborhood on your own.

Walk as far as you can but I can tell you I tried ALL the old wives tales about inducing and the only thing that worked...well as far as I know...was having sex.
I've told other expectant Moms to try & sure enough once they were over the 38 week mark it seemed to work. Who knows maybe the kids were just ready?

Walk- Walk-walk!! Good Luck
Also-- there is a hormone release before you have sex that can induce labor..
So have your significant other play with your nipples, kisses or rub you down a little. No actual sex... but this will help

The last few weeks of pregnancy are tough but don't overdo it trying to get labor going, you need to save some of your strength for that and the days after your bring the baby home.
Sex/Org**sm can also help stimulate contractions, as can stimulation of your nipples.
Good luck and congratulations on the new addition to your family.

Walk as far as you can :D There is no hard and fast rule about how far it really takes to help things along. Babies come when they are ready.
I'm stuck at 1 cm and 50% effaced but I'm only at 36 weeks right now.

just walk until you are tired... there is no set time or distance, when until you are tired or uncomfortable, take a rest, and when you are up to it again, if you need to walk some more... just make sure you are walking with some one just incase you do go into labor. Good luck

Theres no way of knowing. Its all about when your body softens and your hormones change to enduce labor.
Walking only helps so much, and there is no set ammount. You just walk as much as you can without becoming exhausted.
