Three cheers for the Archbishop of Canterbury, one has stand up and be counted, even if it makes them unpopular. The woman who wore the veil in school, did not wear it at the interview, and it is not compulsory in Islam. Its a matter of common sense, if there is a deaf child in the classroom, they certainly could not lip read for a start. Anyone could pose in this dress and be a gunman or a terrorist. One cannot take chances these days. Under the circumstances, the woman in question should have used her common sense.

At long last the Archbishop of Canterbury is standing up for his fellow Christians in Britain I'm sick of this anti christian bias of Political Correctness that's reared its ugly head in this country over the last few years. This country is becoming more like the soviet union everyday i think its time to make a peace full but firm stand for restoring our worldwide envied democracy that's been oppressed by certain groups. Martin this is a christian country and also a free one banning religious symbols is pure intolerance but is a view that seems to be shared among certain left wing secularists like the arch atheist bigot Richard Dawkins . BA was stupid but sensibly backed down i hope this a message to the PC brigade that Christians and other Brits are not going to put up with this cultural vandalism any more. Also i think Dr John Sentamu (Archbishop of York) would make a great Archbishop of Canterbury he has been brilliant in standing up for Britain's Christian heritage.

Too right. But maybe over some more serious issues. Like war, homelessness. and the rest thats wrong in this world. Banning the cross is wrong. But people must show wisdom and give priority to the most demanding issues. A good Christian witness should not show anger over a small thing like that. Turn the other cheek.

It's about time someone stuck up for our religious beliefs. We British, are getting pushed further and further back in the queue.
It is getting beyond belief, what we can and cannot do,in case we upset these foreigners.
I don't care if I'm not politically correct, but the United Kingdom was once a great nation, until we started with these stupid rules and regulations.
Put someone in power, who can stop us British Nationals [not immigrants calling themselves British or English],back at the top where we aught to be.

It is absolutely ridiculous that in a Christian country a company bans a recognised Christian religious symbol yet allows members of other religions to wear theirs if they tried to ban other religions symbols they would be prosecuted for discrimination so why have they not been in this case or is it only discrimination if it involves ethnic minorities

At the time of writing, it is reported that BA are backing down. I suspect that this is because the Archbishop of Canterbury threatened to sell the C of E's shares in BA.
Money talks.

The celebrated reclusive American writer and poet, Linda J Cirillo, is also worried about these events that are happening here in Britain. She also believes that so long as a cross does not interferes with work, what is the problem?

I agree. I'm not religious, but if people of other religions are permitted to display their various signs and symbols, Christians in a nominally Christian country ought to as well and should not be punished for it and should not have to apologize for it.
