lots of people do. it can be a bit of a strain. all this merry making and trying to buy presents. My whole family usually agree not to buy presents for each other so that takes alot of the pressure off. I just buy a present for my mum and a neighbour up the road.
I also watch the amount of alcohol I drink and try to get some exercise during the holidays. Also try to stay chilled out

If you base it around family and family only, not worry about presents and **** like that, then you might find you will be a lot happier. Christmas is way too commercialized these days, its just a time of year the stores see they can make money from, and they sure do! Also, all those Christmas love songs on the radio can make you depressed if you're missing a special someone. That is probably what really gets me every year.

Are you sure it isn't tied to the cold season? Its called Seasonal affective disorder (SAD). That might be what your feeling.
On the other hand, there is so much stress involved with Christmas depression is common. The traffic is crazy, stores are crowded, you have to deal with the weather (cold, snow, ice, rain, etc.) And everywhere you look, Christmas is so commercialized everyone wants to puke.
Happy Hanukkah

Because it's become this big fat marketing event feeding the greed prevalent in our modern society.
And that's why Christmas depresses me.
Also, I'm neither a Christian or a Pagan so it holds no religious or spiritual significance to me either. In fact, I just ignore it, if I can I escape on holiday to a foreign country and am much happier for it. People argue it's a great time to spend with friends and family but I can do that when I please throughout the rest of the year.
Bah humbug! :-)

Not Christmas but I get really depressed at New Year. Maybe as all the fun is over and I feel as though I haven't achieved everything I wanted to in the year.
I think this is normal - it generally passes after a week or so.
Hope you're okay, maybe talk to family & friends about how you are feeling.

For me or some it has been the cold hard reality of the delusion of Christmas. The only magic, mystery and miracle left is to not pass on this delusion to your children.Growing up can really suck sometimes. At least I finally have a copy of Claymations Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer without commercials of toys.It doesn't really make me happy though, just to help me remember I was once a little kid with dreams too.

I do not really like Christmas. It have several sad memories .
The whole context is ridicule, the change of gifts, the hypocrisy of wishing a good season to everybody at work ... Hopefully , I can tolerate it and survive during the season thanks to the fruit cake. I just love it !

Yeah. I am living with OH now but can't spend it with him as he doesn't wnat to go round my family's and I don't want to go round his.. (i see them all the time anyway whereas I don't see mine much). I suggested to my mum that my OH and I have chrimble round our house but I got the emotionaal blackmail bit that I was leaving her in christmas etc. etc. She wont come round to ours. The inlaws kind of get on but it is a bit awkward.
I don't really see my dad at chrimble.. he doesn't mind.. doesn't go in for it much.
Our family is all grown up now. I think the joy of christmas will come back when there are kids around again.

Yeah, sort of. I guess it's the stress of making the check stretch enough to pay bills and make sure there are gifts for the kids and my parents that makes me a bit depressed.
