It depends of if your bike is a two-stroke or a four stroke. Downshifting to neutral may be done by first shifting into bottom gear then into neutral. If you have trouble shifting you may have need of a clutch adjustment.

I realize this is really old question but just in case anyone else is looking for the info... on the YTM's there's usually a set of numbers on the same side of the engine side cover as the shifter, it will have at the bottom an N for neutral, then 1,2,3,4 going up. that's the gear pattern so from neutral, you lift up on the lever to go from gear to gear, to go back down, (Down shifting) you step on the shifter... when you step on it the correct number of times (depending on the gear you are in at the time) you will end up back in neutral. Example, if your in 3rd gear, you step on the shifter 3 times to go to "N". from gear 3 its 1down to go to 2nd gear, another down to go to 1st gear and once more for Neutral. Not sure how many gears on the 200 but on my 1985 225 DXN there's 5.
