It will only hurt a little bit. Don't worry and just relax because you will have to get pelvic exams every year.
Millions of women go for pelvic exams every year for the first time, and it is uncomfortable but it will be over very quickly. You can tell your Ob/Gyn your concerns and she/he will definitely be very gentle with you.

oh sweety! don't be scared okay. It's really not that big of a deal. It is very very weird though. Just go in there with the mind set "This is a professional, they see a million of these things a year and for years. I don't care that I have expose myself like that, it's for my health and my health is important".
It's not as invasive as it might sound. They'll just examine you on the outside, ask a few questions, then put a device in you to open up the walls in there and take a look and probably a swab (which is all minorly uncomfortable, some say painful, but not too bad). It's over in a flash. Just stare at the ceiling and think happy thoughts, lol.
You'll be fine. Be a tough cookie and you'll get through it no prob, and be totally fine the next time.

Try to relax. Tensing up will make it worse. The doctor will do a pelvic exam. You'll disrobe from the waist down, but you'll be covered with a paper blanket thingy. When the doctor examines you inside, it might cramp just a bit, but by no means is it painful. Just relax as much as you can. It only takes a few minutes. Again, stay calm. It's okay....

YOU ARE VERY SMART to go before you contaminate your inner most private parts! The doctor MUST KNOW YOU HAVE NEVER HAD INTERCOURSE, otherwise he will use different tools. He will have cold hands of course, a sense of humor to make you relax, and another nurse will have to be in the room!
Afterwards, he'll ask you if you would like to go on birth control pills, what kind of protection you will use when you're ready to have intercourse and it will be over in less than 10 minutes.
By the way, he will ask you to undress completely and put on a gown, after he checks you down there, he will check your breasts for any lumps. (that's embarrassing) this is a good thing you're doing. Don't be afraid. Every girl goes through it.

It not as bas as everyone makes it out to be. The doctors that I have always been to have been really gentle and it hasn't really hurt too much!! It will be a little painful because you are a virgin, but nothing to be afraid of!! Just relax because if you are tense then it will be a lot more painful than it normally would be. Just sit back , relax, and before you know it, your done!!

the best things for you to do is:
1. Pray for peace
2. Relax!!! Tensing up will cause so much more discomfort.
3. Chosing a woman doctor is usually very helpful.
4. Discussing your fear with the doctor is OK!
5. I would explain to the doctor that if it is not absolutely necessary to do a complete pelvic examination that you would prefer to avoid it or anything that would harm your hymen - not just the pain issue but to keep you as pure as possible.

Keep in mind that gynecologists do this every day. They will know, of course, that this will be your first time. If you have any doubts about that, tell the nurse and the doctor in the examining room.
These examination are very important to your long term health. I'm told women get used to them over time. Every visit to the gynecologist is likely to be important because the examination can anticipate future problems before they get out of control.

If your frightened and tense - it can be somewhat painful - yes. But if you relax an much as possible and remember that it will only last a few short minutes - it will be more uncomfortable than painful. Its kinda cold and intrusive - but its neccessary! Sometimes we have to accept certain things if its predictive of our future! Just try to relax (as hard as that sounds)...this is just the first time of many more. It gets somewhat easier.
