The Epson Stylus Photo R220 will serve you well. Take no notice of the people who tell you you can't print directly onto CD/DVD. This printer does it all. You do have to buy "printable" CD/DVDs to print directly onto them though. (You probably won't even notice the difference in price ... you're probably talking pennies difference.)

I have an Epson Stylus Photo R300, that I've had for a little over 18 months, and it's brilliant. You can print full colour on your CD/DVDs.

Another advantage of the printer you've been told about (R220) is that it has 6 separate inks. This makes it cheaper to run as you only need to replace the ink that's run out.

The main disadvantage is that Epson printers have their print heads built into the printer, rather than onto the ink cartridges. This is what causes the cost of buying most ink cartridges to be so high. In effect, when the print heads 'die' on you, you might as well buy a new printer as to replace them costs as much, if not more, than to buy a new printer.

Printers are humorous that way. What you should do is replace that yellow ink cartridge. even nonetheless you do no longer choose for to apply that shade, you choose for all the cartridges on your printer to confirm that your printer to paintings in any respect. next time attempt leaving the empty ink cartridge on your printer until you get a clean one to swap it. Even extra suitable, in case you do no longer print in shade then sell this one and get one that only prints in black.

If you want to print a picture on a cd or dvd, the thing to get is Lightscribe CD'S or dvd's. I use them and its Ok, but it doesnt do colour, just like a water mark or shadow.
