The Simpsons live in Springfield....state unknown. This city is used in a lot of shows, movies and the soaps because there are cities called Springfield in a bunch of states.

That has been something that has been debated since the Simpsons first aired. Nobody knows which state they live in, and that's kind of always been a running joke throughout the show. The fact is that they live in Springfield, and there are several Springfield's located throughout the U.S.

Kentucky, but the trick was that there is a Springfield in every state. The clues they throw out give it away. Look for Shelbyville in Kentucky. They mention being in a southern state, President Washington blasts Lisa and tells her he knew people like her in the revolution, "we called them Kentuckians" he says.

This questions been on here before. They live in a fictional place, there is no place in the US that is exactlly like springfield. The geography is all made up.
Its all part of the joke they make fun of this fact on many occasions.

They live in Springfield, State of Mind. It's California but there was that episode where former President Bush moved in across the street and he lives in Houston so............
