Psychology is "the science of behaviour"
The study of how and why we do things.
Two main aspects are behavioural and physiological..
Behavioural is basically Classical and Operant Conditioning...
Classical...Skinner and Pavlov teachings of associations between stimuli allowing predictions of actions in our environment.. (e.g.pavlov's dogs).
Operant Conditioning is an association between behaviour and consequence... A spontaneous behaviour causes a consequence which will determine whether the behaviour will be commonly used in the future or not. A good consequence will encourage the behaviour in the future. Whilst a bad consequence will disuade it.
Physiological is basically how the brain processes allow us to interact with our environment. This includes everything from hormones and cell production causing our behaviour, to memory and motor skills allowing us to interpret the world we live in and interact with it.
Hope that helps.

Psychology is an academic and applied field involving the scientific study of mental processes and behavior. Psychology also refers to the application of such knowledge to various spheres of human activity, including problems of individuals' daily lives and the treatment of mental illness.
Psychology differs from anthropology, economics, political science, and sociology in seeking to explain the mental processes and behavior of individuals. Psychology differs from biology and neuroscience in that it is primarily concerned with the interaction of mental processes & behavior on a systemic level, as opposed to studying the biological or neural processes themselves. In contrast, the subfield of neuropsychology studies the actual neural processes and how they relate to the mental effects they subjectively produce. Biological psychology is the scientific study of the biological bases of behavior and mental states.

Psychology is more of a concept than a actual thing. Pyschology is a combination of different theories and idea's of different people on how people react and act in certain enviornments. It deals with all how you think, act, and what your behavior is.

They probably want you to analyse each section of psychology (biological, cognitive, social, evolutionary etc) and weigh up the merits of each theory.
