I understand what you mean, but the shareholders actually put the money up front that enable the working masses to be employed in the first place.

To your first question, a non-answer. That's like asking if your heart should be allowed to feed off your lungs like a bloated parasite.

To your second question, many don't even have greed in the hearts and minds. Many of the shareholders I know are the laborers who spent their whole life working for a company and diligently investing in stock so that they could enjoy a comfortable retirement and spend time with their grandkids. Doesn't sound all that greedy to me.

To you third question, no. Stocks and shares are an ingenious way to democratize capital to the masses so that it's put it to its best use in society - meaning it delivers the most for everyone in society. If you don't believe that shareholders provide any value in taking the risk with their money to start a business (and thus provide the jobs), then I highly recommend that you take a college level finance course.

Do you prefer the communist ideal of state owned business?

Shareholders provide capital investment which allows a business to develop and grow - employing more people, providing better service and satisfying consumer demand.

Sure, the idea is to make money - do you go to work? Why? To make money because in a capitalist society, as with all modern societies, you need money to live.

It's a far from perfect system and there are those who make a fortune while others struggle to make ends meet but thats nature - you get your winners and losers in any system.

Maybe we ought to think about the ideals we teach our children. We tell them to do well in school, learn, work hard, pay attention, do your best and when someone does well and has a high level of sucess we call them fat cats, greedy and lazy?

Social injustice does not exist. Society is a human concept based on human ideals which refuse to allow the existence of the negative aspect of humanity - you want your ying without your yang!

You'll always have your have's and have not's

It's the WORKERS who are the bloated greedy parasites. They insist on being PAID to do stuff that society clearly needs done. Where is the altruism? Look at Firemen. If your house is on fire, they expect to be paid MONEY to put out the fire and rescue you. Can you believe that?

Don't even get me started on policeman. They won't even put a bullet in some bad guy's noggin unless they think another fat paycheck is going to arrive at the end of the month. They won't even rough him up a bit, trust me. You have to do it yourself. Man, greed knows no bounds!
