i think i just discovered i am an idealist, i am looking up information about it and it all seems so negitive. I always considered myself a realist, but i guess i have changed over the past few years and find my self thinking in a more idealist way. Is this a bad way to look at life?

i think that idealism is only great if everyone else has the same ideals as you. since there are so many people in the world and each country and even each community, idealism tends to just start arguements and make people upset with the fact that they cant have everything their way. it seems like the more idealists there are, the worse the world becomes because there are more people with opposite view points that refuse to step down from their ideas. look at the national political scene. democrats and republicans have both turned into idealistic parties, which makes neither of them want to comprimise with any solutions that will make the world better for both sides.

I also think that the media today is turning more people into idealists by only presenting one side of every story. when you do this i think it trains us to think that there is only one correct solution to every problem or that there is always a good guy and a bad guy.

Idealists find it hard to live with opposite idealists and it leads to conflict. realists typically try to view everything from a moderate view point and try to get along with people

When a negative image is eclipsed by a positive one like an ideal model version-like thing, you get a glimpse of the power of things in a moving system. A bad way to look at life would be to belittle it and deny it's desires, but to have your sense of belief go through an eclipse of another kind, is simply part of the Universe.

idealism is at best an ideology. its not bad if you see it as an ideal goal, fact of the matter is it remains theory trapped in classrooms and lecture halls. If you want to be something be something that is in touch to the reality that exists outside the theoretical discussions and arguements in learning centres. Become a "Praticalist or Outside There Theorist" Some one that goes beyond theoretical arguements and into the REAL world. face it life doesnt follow strict rules, there are always exeptions and nothing or no-one can be placed in a box.

I think idealism is the best way to look at life. It's certainly a creative point of view, because regardless of what's going on around you, you are able to put a positive spin on things. It means you dream big, you have hope for the future, and you're probably one of the people in the world that can imagine a better world in the future and can help steer us towards that positive place!

Bad ideals are bad, leading to a warped view of reality (or bad 'realist' conduct).

If you hold good ideas that conform to reality, there's no dichotomy between idealism and realist; between the moral and the practical.
