He shot himself in the temple while simultaneously taking a cyanide capsule.

He gave his dog and his wife cyanide tablets, and then shot himself in the head. Supposedly he bit into a cyanide tablet as well, but I think the shot to the head was what killed him.

That is controversial. Some people say that he shot himself whereas other say that he ordered a soldier to do it
