pretending.
i dont like to get guys hopes up. it isnt fair on them and i told a guy that he was good looking and he thought i liked him and followed me around the nightclub for the reast of the night. it ruined my night and his when i turned round and told him the truth.
its best to be honest from the start.

Honesty isnt always the best policy! Sometimes you have to be a little 'economical with the truth' to spare people's feelings. Try a compromise....dont go off on a tangent and make someone believe that you think they are really good looking when you really dont. Tell them that they are not ugly, and say "You're not bad looking." This way it softens the blow rather than being blunt and saying that they are ugly. Nobody likes to hear that they are ugly. There is always someone who will find them attractive even if you dont. Same as there will always be someone who thinks you are ugly. Always put yourself in the place of others and think how you would feel if something bad was said to you. Always think about other peoples feelings before you give an answer. Choose your words wisely!!!

I think it depends on the situation. Obviously if it's a friend, it would be kinder to say that you don't want to ruin the friendship than to tell them you don't find them attractive.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, if you didn't find them attractive, someone else will. Life would be really boring if everyone liked the same thing and the same type of person.
Sorry, rambling on! But seriously, if you didn't find them attractive, then telling them would be kinder than to let them think you fancied them and for them to make a fool of themselves.

I believe that you should tell the person the truth, there respect you it in the long run, plus what's good looking is to you isn't what's good looking is to someone else. For beauty is only in the eye of the beholder.

I think its best to be truth full to your self and the other person' But please be very care full what you say. Its obvious you care about this person or you would not be asking. If its some one who thinks you fancy them you should let them down gently saying something like . I think your great but i love you as a friend and i don't want to spoil it. Hope this is some help coz you never give much information

I don't believe in lying, but there is no need to be cruel if you believe they are homely. If you don't think they are good looking don't get into that conversation. If they ask, simply tell them they aren't your type.

i wouldnt say, but i would say i had a bf or something if i was getting chatted up by an ugly guy. its not nice to tell someone they are ugly, its a bit cruel. so depending on your situation make something up like your involved with someone, or somfin like that

don't look at the face look at the personality and comment on that so you know the nice people (wether ugly or pretty) get a fair compliment and the horrible people (again wether ugly or pretty) get their just deserts!
