I was pulled over for speeding last night, but was not given a ticket. It was my first time ever being pulled over and I was not sure what was supposed to happen. The police officer was very nice and took my license but did not give me a ticket. He never said it was a warning or if I was getting a ticket or what. Do they mail you a ticket or was I lucky and just got off with a warning. I was thinking maybe I was lucky since I have had a perfect driving record until now and am over 18. I live in Ohio, but I have had trouble finding information on this topic for my state. Thanks!

I am a police officer, I stop a lot of drivers and don't give them a ticket more than likely if the officer didn't cite you at the time of the stop he just warned you.

The officer has to personally give you a citation and tell you he's giving you one. Its like getting arrested and the cop not reading your Miranda Rights. The only time a ticket will be mailed to you is when you get nailed by a red light camera. He doesn't HAVE to tell you it's just a warning, but he does have to tell you why he pulled you over. You're good, no worries.

you just got lucky. or maybe you better keep a lookout in the mail box. i think the cop was late for the donut run. well whatever reason you may not have to worry if you were getting a ticket you would have it in your hand.

you're a juvenile. it extremely is extremely helpful to to pass to courtroom. do you choose a lawyer? on condition which you propose to contest the case. In optimum Ohio juvenile circumstances, a lawyer and a prosecutor won't "hammer out a deal". The choose for needs to talk with you. in case you had the dope on your possession, or on your motor vehicle, you're to blame. guy up and plead to blame. Admit your mistake and get on alongside inclusive of your existence. What could you're taking benefit of for a secure practices to boot? unlawful seek for? i do no longer think of so. You allowed the officer to seek on your motor vehicle. A lawyer is only going to worth you extra constructive money. you're probably going to get a stable, probation, lose your drivers license for 30-ninety days and ordered to attend some form of drug/alcohol be attentive to-how form (at your value). it extremely is no longer a great deal. I you contest it, it extremely is only going to drag out the inevitable. P.S. in case you had refused the quest, this interior reason plenty a offered that there is a few element unlawful contained interior the motor vehicle. subjects can get messy at that factor. There are all varieties of motives which would be discovered to justify a seek for. some element so consumer-friendly as a tire with undesirable tread could factor out an risky motor vehicle. if so, the officer could probaly cite you for that, now no longer assist you stress it, and function it towed. At that factor he will do a catalogue of the motor vehicle on your safety and his. Then whilst he finds to dope, your extremely screwed.
