In Benjamin Franklin's "Poor Richard's Almanac" he has a number of aphorisms that may work for your assignment. You may be suprised to hear that some of the very familiar ones were written so long ago. For example, "No gains without pains," and "Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise." Oh, and don't worry, they don't all rhyme. Good luck!

It'd help to know what your project is on. Are you looking for slang things? One of my favorites is "sticking your foot in your mouth", which means to say something that makes a situation really awkward and offends or upsets someone. In German, the expression that means almost the same thing translates as "sticking your foot in a bowl of fat". Ew!
