I mean I like music but it doesn't mean I want to be a musician, I'd be terrible! I'm practically tone deaf. And a lot of the fans only care about whether a picture looks like a anime, not whther it's good or not. And when you try and tell them that there are no schools that teach 'anime' in America and that non Japanese company is going to hire them unless they are supernaturally talented, which of course means they have to learn how to animate first, they get all ticked off. Yeesh! I mean, concentrate on getting your owns tyle and imitating the popular styles in America if you want a job here.
I do not get it at all. I'm an anime fan too, and I don't want to crush your dreams but some of them are old enough to know better.

There a few people I know who will suceed that animate in that style and that is because they are talented animators and artists and prove that they can do lots of styles. They are artists first, and anime fans after.

Well I like anime a lot too. But I'm trying to be practical about this. A portfolio full of anime-style drawings is a big turn off for studios, and I want to be hired. And I don't speak Japanese, and I don't have money for a ticket there, and I'm not incredibly talented. So it pretty much rules it out for me too.

Plus theres a big difference in having a style influenced by it and wanting to make real anime.

They would maybe have a chance to fufill their freams if they stopped trying to imitate other anime and actually tried to learn to draw.

1. Studios will not hire people to do anime here ebcause the Japanese are so much better then we are at it.

2. If you want to do anime you have to go to Japan. You can't make it here.

There is a big difference between hoping to do soemthing and being practical and learning what you ened to do to actually do it, and wanting to do soemhting but not doing any of the things you need to be able to do it.

It's like someone who dreams of being a great violinist but won't practice.

Good question. Yes they probally want to attempt to make their own anime by just pure inspiration. But why stop them? Let them at least try. And maybe at one point, it'll be just a phase and they just want to give up on it. Maybe theres a chance that they wont be good enough no matter the teachings that have been given to them. And maybe they might succeed. But either way, they are doing it. Even though i find it abit dumb myself. I cant find them dumb for being an anime fan.

Hm. I've never heard that. I love anime, but that's not the reason I want to do cartoons. And I don't want to learn how to draw in anime style. I'm still working on creating a style of my own. I want to go to school to learn how to animate and use CGI and all that. I grew up only watching cartoons (anime and the regular american stuff.) The first thing I wanted to make a cartoon is so far from looking like anime. It's a style I developed back when I was 10 I think, and I'm still using it today. No one seems to realize that one of my drawing styles is actually adapted from stick people.
Anywho, no one's ever told me that I couldn't be an animator or do cartoons becuase of how I usually draw. I don't know why. Even though I know that when I finally do make a cartoon, I'll have my style already down even though I've been working on it for years now.

Some are really claiming that they will be great mangaka someday but they are not really trying hard enough, I know they were never born with the natural talent of drawing but it's just right if they will take proper lessons, it will help them a lot. But instead they practice more on copying other anime, and even proud that it is an "exact copy" of the picture. They even have their collections and when I see it I am not really impressed.. and then they will show me their attempt for making their own drawing.. And it is sad to say that it is so terrible!.. but they don't research or anything for how to draw correctly, so they never improve.. It's really sad.

WHY NOT??? They have a right to their dreams. maybe american animation sux so they would rather do anime. I personally think doujinshi is a better way to go but hey that's just me. I do agree that it probaby will not turn into a job for them, but they can always, and should always try.
