um bill i would never smack my son in the head... plus he is only 6 and he's not like all the other spoiled kids out there he would be happy with the real cheap hand held games. i just wanted to know if any problems where found and stuff like that. is it too small u have to hold it up to face to see?

the gameboy micro plays gameboy advance titles. it doesn't play older games, but that's ok, there are hundreds of games that it will play

also, gameboy advance games are still being made

there are many fun titles on the game.

the gameboy micro screen isn't too small, the reason it's called a micro is because the whole system is quite small

a six year old's hands are not too small

i think that is a wonderful gift idea

They take Gameboy Advance games which generally go for about $20 and have tons of titles so in that sense, it's a really good system. If you get out to Wal-Mart today, they're on sale for $40 (I think $39.77 or something along thoes lines).

I think it'd be a really good, relatively cheap system for your son and he'd be very happy with it.

ALSO,

If you want to get it at that price, you probably want to go today. It's sold out online but I was just in walmart (in South Carolina, but I'm assuming most stores have about the same stock) and they had a pallet (ask an employee when you get there to direct you).

Don't buy a Micro. In my opinion it is way too small and pretty stupid. Buy a GameBoy Advance SP instead. They're only $80.

I have one, and I enjoy it quite a bit.

As for if your son will enjoy it, I couldn't say. It is definately an older piece of game technology (plays Game Boy Advanced games), but if he enjoys the older games, he'll have a lot of fun with it. You can find a ton of Game Boy Advance games on Ebay for not a lot of money, so he'll be able to build a nice collection very fast.

If he's a kid that needs the latest and greatest, and cannot appriciate the older games, you might want to steer clear of it (and smack him in the head, because Game Boy made some very fun games, and he'd be missing out on a lot of them).

Wikipedia has a lot more specific info at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_Boy_Micro

Personally, I think it would be an awesome gift.
