i like it in that it brought the subject of gay relationships into a current movie, i didnt like it because the storyline seemed to fall apart, or not be fully developed, near the end,,,,,

The movie was excellent in almost all contexts: Cinematography was excellent, us of space and time was excellent, furthering a very complex story was excelllent and did not waste one single frame. The characters were richly developed quickly, every actor was nailed the nuiance of the role, and the moral of the story was shiningly clear. This is a movie for everyone, I don't believe anyone who saw this was left untouched, straight or gay. I highly recommend this picture to all.

I saw it and I wasn't blown away by it. I thought it was slow paced at times and wasn't convinced that these two dudes (the actors) were something the other would fall in love with. They were like cartoon cutouts of guys, stiff and bland.

Still it was good basic plot line, and gave a good portrayal of the times and attitudes of rural gays (though neither character would like that term). Better than most gay flicks.

Yes, I enjoyed it quite a bit. I know some people said it was slow, but I found myself absorbed the whole way through.

The only detractor was how depressingly sad it ended, but that can't be helped- it was also part of its beauty. It wouldn't have been the same movie if it ended happiliy.

The performances were great, but the story was depressing, depressing, depressing. I like to feel good or enriched after watching a movie; this movie made me feel miserable and sad. There was nothing positive about it, not a single humourous moment, all of it was negative and closeted actions. I never want to see this movie again--ever!

Saw it twice, loved it. That is what being in the real closet is like. As for the ending, come on what you expect a happy ending, get real. It was the 60s gays were not out and proud, they were beaten and murdered.

I LOVE THIS MOVIE!The depiction of the internal struggle of gay men in that era was amazing, and I cried because it was so moving. Also, Jake is so pretty ^_^

It was ok, I felt it was rather slow at times and the ending overly depressing.

Yeah, it was a good story. The book, rather short story, was much better.
