Allgigles is wrong, as it is wrong to use an euphemism to refer to black people, for there is nothing wrong in being black. If I say black I mean black and not dark.

Producer: I would regard them as mullotos with no regard to what the colour of their skin was.

it's because of history. in slave times, babies born to slave women were slaves, regardless of the father. legally, courts made many decisions. even the smallest fraction of "black blood" meant that you were black. later jim crow laws were interpreted this way. no matter how small, any african heritage was enough to get you relegated to the bad side of segregation.
this still lives on in how we define "race". but historically it was established by white judges and courts over many many decades.

For the same reason if the Father is Italian and the mother is Swedish the children are considered Italian. Why ? The mother has no genes? When you find the answer let me know. Or the Father is Episcopalian and the Mother is Anglican why are the children considered Episcopalian ? The Mother has a Religion but it does not count! -:) -:)

The reason for this occurred a long time ago as pointed out in an earlier answer to this question. As far as I'm concerned, that reasoning is sadly outdated and archaic. If anything, any one of us who is of more than one race should be considered mixed-race.

From what I have heard from blacks on T.V. and reading from articles written by blacks, if there is any black blood in the offspring no matter how little the child is considered black.

Basically because of his skin color. They are generally darker skinned.

On the other hand, there was a set of twins born recently to a
mixed marriage couple. One was dark skinned and the other
white.

How do you label that.

something to do with a colour dominating the other. i think ur asking on a general term and not racist term. u should ask these questions in biology and reproduction rather than here. ppl get offended easy and pls use dark instead. and i think its to do with chromosomes and genes and colour dominating each other i.e. who's eye colour and hair colour have u got? ur mums or dads? its like that. depends on ur genetic make up. ask in biology section. they might be able to tell u in detail.

Its too bad that generalizations, be it intentional or otherwise are used for both good and bad purposes. For good it may be used for identification such as drivers licenses etc. However, such classifications may be used in a slang/derogatory fashion and hope that this may not be the case.
