No he shouldnt. He is (only) 37 years old and QB's can easily play to 40, especially for Favre who has caught the Ripken safety bug on being able to play as long as he has.
He is within a season or two of some very important passing records.
That being said, I think he would be better off on a contender as GB needs to find out if Rodgers it the guy or not. You can't judge Rodgers' career on a partial game.
I'm trying to figure out what team he would be a good fit for, maybe Carolina, Jacksonville, or Denver next season, but chances are, he will finish his career in GB because he realizes his place in history and even though he started his NFL career with Atlanta, he wants to finish it with GB.
While I am a die hard Lions fan, I too have enjoyed watching Favre play for the last 10+ seasons and hope he breaks the records held by Marino.

I agree with you...they have shown flashes of brilliance this season, and with a good off season, that should improve next year. Also, the teams pretty young, so all of the players should be better next year (except Favre of course lol). And I can't remember a Packer game without favre Favre either for all of my 17 yrs....and I sorry, I hate the fact that every Packer game comes on here in Milwaukee, I miss a lot of good games because of it. Cowboy fan, that's me!

3 or 4 years? No way. I think he should take a look at what Avery Johnson from the Dallas Mavericks did. Go from the field to a solid coaching position.
He would be a great coach. He knows all there is to know about the game and I am sure if he really wanted to, the Packers would find him a job he could retire on.
I would hate to see him as a sports commentator. He is waaaayyyy to smart for that.

Favre still has another year in, but he has got to inform the team right away of decision one way or the other. Not hold them hostage like last year. The young team will have a year under their belt and should be much better with a few additions from Free Agency.

If Green Bay is willing to give him several million bucks to play a while longer, I don't think he should turn it down. Don't bet your paycheck on Aaron Rodgers being the next Favre, he is another in a long line of second rate Cal QB's.

You know, I'm torn. I like Favre (not really a GB fan.) I hate to keep seeing them talk about him like he's past his prime, he should hang it up, does he still have it, etc... I would love to see him keep playing, yet I don't want his image tarnished by people questioning how good he is.
CAN he still play??? Sure! Maybe another year or two (3 or 4 might be pushing it, he is 38 (?) after all.)

We've seen the best we are ever going to see out of Brett Favre. I can't imagine what it must be like for him to have to ponder stepping away from the game he has been playing all his life. The game has been his life as the way for all great athletes... they live their sport until they can't do it anymore. Then they become announcers or color commentators. So should Brett retire.... Yes. Say thank you to him for all the great years and let him walk away.

He can still play but i dont think he should. His team isnt getting any better and he will just be playing another year for nothing. He could retire from football and get into doing something else. He could do comercials or something. He is going to end up getting hurt and being knocked out for the season if he doesnt retire this year.

i'm hoping no longer. i in my view like watching Brett Favre Play. And via the way he performs it style of sounds like he has a pair extra years. it would be neat to work out him win a great bowl till now he retires.

I love Favre so you never want him to go, but I think it is probably time. He just is an average quarterback anymore. Every one in awhile you will see the young Favre make a play, but it just is to rare anymore. I love him but I think it is time to go.
