I would suspect SpyWare. You should have an anti-spyware solution on your computer. I recommend that you go to http://www.download.com and get AD-AWARE and SpyBot Search & Destory. Install, run, update and scan your computer with both programs.

You might also have a Weather application and other junk on your computers.

This double whammy will help keep you safe and running faster

Check for spyware.

All of these are ones that I personally use and all are free.

Spybot - Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven't intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked" (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don't see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S&D is free, so there's no harm giving it a try to see if something has invaded your computer.

Hi, there are many possible reasons:
1. Spyware.
2. Some open application running on the "background".
3. Small space on the hard drive.
4. Not enough RAM memory.

You can solve the problems doing the following:
1. If you are using windows: Be sure to have it updated with the last security updates: www.windowsupdate.com
2. Install an antivirus: www.my-etrust.com/microsoft/ or visit http://free.aol.com/thenewaol/online_security.adp
3. Install an antispyware: http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx or http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/
4. Clean your Internet Explorer temporary files: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie6/using/howto/customizing/clearcache.mspx
5. Try using a better version of Internet Explorer: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.mspx?mg_ID=10010 or visit www.opera.com
6. Make a defragmentation of your hard drive. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/expert/crawford_october08.mspx

Following the steps above you will fix the problem and avoid that that will happen again. Be sure to have a system with enough memory (minimum 256MB RAM, 512 is OK, 1GB ideal).
Having at least 6 GB of free storage space in the hard drive is good and advisable.

I agree with jaws - a lot of spyware / malware only kicks in when the browser is fired up.

Unless you have a really slow system and are hitting heavy graphics pages

I agree with the others that talk about spy ware or ad ware you've picked up on line.

The other possibility is that you don't have enough RAM to run everything you want to. If you have 128mg RAM you really should have it upgraded to 512mg RAM. It will cost about $200 for this new chip plus installing it. While you are having that done have your comp checked for bugs.

gadget Idle procedure is the time the CPU is idling - no longer doing something. (this technique seems something like: initiate: Is there something to do? If no longer, bypass to initiate it really is how adventure-pushed platforms (like abode windows) artwork. They "do no longer something" till something interrupts them. once you attempt to do something, the CPU idles a lot less, because that's spending extra of its time doing something.
