If you are flexible as to what you read, there are many full text books at: http://www.gutenberg.com/.

You won't find a site like that with many recent books available ... mostly older classics that are now out of copyright. If you could get new books for free, how would all those poor hard-working authors make a living?

Not for all kinds of books, some classics and well known recent works are online. I remembered using the Sparknotes one, there are entire books posted.
