Hmm, okay so here it is. I'm an 18 year old girl who never used a tampon. They basically freak me out, I mean, I tried, but it hurts a LOT. My questions are:

1. how big should your vaginal opening be if you are a virgin? I have this like flesh stuff covering up the entire area, but when pressure is exterted, you can see two small holes. Like straw sized.
2. Should you be able to see the opening, in a relaxed position? I cannot see mine. You actually have to exert pressure on it (and it isn't all that easy) for my finger to glide in just one inch.
3. I have like two small openings, is that normal?
4. Will it hurt a lot when I have intercourse? I mean, I can't even comfortably get two fingers in there, AT ALL. I want to save the special day for my wedding night.....but I dont want to be a mess wither though :(

I'd appreciate any help. Sorry, but I just dont know what "normal" is when it comes to female genitalia and want to make sure everything is okay.

hey, use the smallest tampons if the bigger ones hurt you. if you pull the tampon out while it's still kinda dry, thenit hurts like crazy. my vaginal opening is small, cuz the hymen hasn;t been pushed back yet. when you first have intercourse, your husband will push it back whenhe enters you. it will hurt for the first time and maybe the second time. but after your body kinda gets used to it, it should be amazing. just relax when you're using tampons, i was freaked out myself. i was screaming and everything. my sister had to come in and help me. and if you're still worried, then go to your doc.

girl i know exactly what you are going through, i have had the same problems, but i have endometriosis, and intercourse hurts really bad, well for me it does, and yeah, i was like well why in the world does a tampon hurt, maybe you should try a smaller size tampon & then see what happens. i started my period when i was like 13 years old. and its something that ive dealt with since and im 21 right now. maybe you should get into your gyno and talk to them about painful instert of a tampon. maybe its time for you to get a pap smear, or another one. it never hurts to check.

Try using a smaller tampon. I ran into a similar problem as you. A nurse recommended Tampax slender regular. They provide pretty good protection and the fit into small openings.

Just don't do what I did which was to experiment with tampons when i wasn't on my period. if you think your question is embarrassing, i had to get help to get it out! so feel better. Tampons are great, start with a junior or slim with a mini pad or a panty liner, don't use if not comfortable though! I'd start there and kinda see how it goes!

Your are 18. It's time you went to a gynocologist for a check up. Then you'll know exactly what is normal and never have to worry.
