I have two small children, and we tell them about Santa Claus, mixing the stories of the North Pole and magic reindeer and little elves with the story of St. Nicholas. Basically, we play up the giving spirit "Santa Claus" represents.

One thing we don't do, though, is encourage the thought that Santa visits all good kids, and he doesn't visit any bad kids. I think THAT would be irresponsible, since there's obviously total brats who get loaded up every December 25, and there are LOTS of good kids whose families can't afford to give them much or anything as Christmas gifts, and children whose families don't do Christmas or Santa out of choice. They're still young enough that they don't ask questions as to why they get stuff and others don't, and I don't know what exactly I'll say in response when/if they ask those questions.

Santa Claus is not real. in spirit he is, but otherwise, like when it comes to the presents, he is not. parents put the presents under the tree and say Santa did. in this one place a long time back, Santa Claus was real. he had a sleigh and everything and gave presents out. but that was then and this is now. no, Santa is only real in a child's point of view. that is until they see their parents wrapping the presents and putting them under the tree. Santa is not real, just the spirit.

Santa Claus in himself is not real. What he represents, love, joy and happiness are real and in essence make Santa Claus a living person.

Santa Claus isn't connected to Christianity and we didn't start Santa Claus. However, I do compare Santa with God he knows when your sleeping and he knows when your awake and he knows if your been bad or good etc....

Yes he is. Just look into the eyes of a child as they walk through the mall right now looking at the decorations.

Take a child to a toy store and when they ask for something tell them maybe Santa will bring it and watch their eyes light up.

Decorate your home and then watch the cars with children in them slow down as they drive by. Look at the excitement in their eyes as they look at the lights and the trees and everything else.

I live in a neighborhood that really decorates every year. I take my grandchildren for walks at least 3 times a week to see all the homes and lights and Santas and snowmen in all the yards. It is so wonderful to see their little faces all lit up with delight and anticipation.

Santa Clause isn't even real mythology.

It was crafted by Christianity after the absorbtion of the Celts and Pagans into their religion. The figure and symbology of Santa Clause was a disrespectful rip-off to those religions, and is nothing more than propaganda for Christianity.

(And now, it has evolved into a lovely symbol for capitalism as well.)
