I think that individualism is people doing their own thing and not worrying about what people r thinking about it. An individual has their own life and just does everything their way..

I think being an individual means to me that I do what I want without answering to anyone and I don't follow what others are doing just because they think it is cool.

It means thinking out of the box; yet it also means being alone. I think to be an individual, you feel "on top" but @ the same time, like you can't relate to any1 else. Lonely and misunderstood.

To a certain extent it would be the desire to non conform or be non committal with typical social and economic society. To become independent or more open mined of other possibilities. From my own deeper feeling of self recognition I prefer to be able to choose when I like to be alone but not isolated from reality. Like an observer looking down on the world in Gods place or from Gods perspective. As he might also ours.

it means basically you do your own things. you do not involve others in your decision making. it feels great to be an "individual" -- because it means you stand on your own two feet without the help of others. take for example the woman -- who is highly dependent on her husband for shopping, spending, financial affairs etc. etc. this is contrary to "individualism" you refer to in your question. Of course no man is an "island" by himself or herself --we all depend on others for accomplishments and acceptance -- but it is the degree of dependence that makes us stand out as in "individual". Hope you got the message.

Being yourself. Do not copy cat anyone but take on the traits you admire in other people. Your peers owe you nothing and you owe them nothing therefore be an individualist with honor.
