You tell a mother about unconditional love being trivial and she will kick your butt.

You ask beautiful questions. I don't know the answers to any of them, but it's impossible to resist answering one of them nevertheless... ;)
To me, unconditional love is absolutely fundamental. Because it is my aim in this short life span. To be able to love unconditionally. I don't think I will really reach this goal within this life span, perhaps for a moment but that moment will pass... But I live to strive towards it, and (to answer your other question) I believe that I came from unconditional love and that I will go there after this physical existence.
Then -if I'm going to "reach" my aim anyway when I die- wouldn't it make sense to relax and just enjoy this short life span, playing to my heart's content with the trivial instead of striving for the fundamental? Alas, I cannot be interested in the trivial without the fundamental sense of it all...
Then can I have both? I think it must be so. I think I must find unconditional love in the small, seemingly inconsequential, trivial things of everyday life. And I think I must give my love to these trivial things. Whenever I can do that, I fulfill my yearning - in those moments I reach my aim. Then it won't matter that this life span is short, because I will have lived.
Thank you for your question.

Its fundamental for sure! Doesn't mean there is only one unconditional love though. You can feel that towards your lover, family, pets, friends etc...

Fundamental for me. Prevalent mostly between mother and child. You have to experience this to actually understand how absolutely possible this is.
I love your question,,,kept it on my watch list, was looking forward for more answers. I guess everyone out shopping..
Would appreciate your input as you resolve this question.
