Should the mayor of a major city like NY be allowed to voice his personal opinions?

If course he should be allowed to express his opinions! He is a person after all, why can't he enjoy music? It's not like he's endorsing her, like "And I hereby do decree that from this day forth, it shall be known that New York City is Shakira's city."

He just said he was a fan. Geez.

I think politicians do that all the time, don't they? And why is it a terrible thing for him to announce that he likes Shakira? Millions of other people like her, why not Mayor Bloomberg?
