We have three home computers using our wireless internet, but I don't see how I can prevent any of my neighbors from hopping onto our connection.

Log on to your wireless router and set password for your system. If you check the manual for the wireles router you are using it should guide you through setting a login and password for internet access. You will be able to at choose whether or not your specific computer remembers the login and password when you try to access the internet thru your personal computer for the fist time after you have set up your router to be accessible with a password and login.

Well if your wireless router has 128 bit WEP encryption (which most routers have) then you can set a password for your router to keep other people from using your internet. The router should've come with a setup cd so it could guide you through. If your router is unsecure, then you should get a new one.

Call the company who makes your router and have them help you set up a password so only your three computers can use the wireless. That is what we did and our internet is so much faster.

Yes I would agree pass word protect it.. or get rid of the wireless modem WAP wireless access point in exchange with a router so you have two options in which the first one is the best. Then call the police and report it..

When I had my Fios ( Fiber optics network) installed they put in a special firewall with a secret link to my wireless so that anyone that dose not have that secret link CAN NOT tap into my router. Check with your local cable or even call the GEEK squad at best buy and they can help you. Good luck Ken T Sr

You need to encrypt your connection. I'm not sure what that means, but whatever it is, it keeps people from hopping on. My bf tried to explain it to me. Find a computer geek and ask them what to do. Either that or just beat the crap out of your neighbors to warn them not to use your internet.

A good hacker can always get in, but encrypting the Network is an excellent idea as well as not broadcasting the SSID. THis is all done in your router setup. Read your manual. Use WPA to protect it and use Google to get more information.

Go to the set-up for your wireless router and enable password keys. That way you can only join your wireless network with the password.
