He basically plays the same type of character again and again and again (but in "You, Me and Dupree", it's just too much for me to bear)

Since you can pretty much guess the type of role he'll play in every movie, he is more predictable than annoying. I personally don't like his acting but I definitely don't consider him to be completely untalented. He cultivated a character and made it work for him. He makes millions of dollars a year playing essentially the same person, that seems pretty smart to me.
I would put him akin to Jim Carrey, Adam Sandler, and Meg Ryan. They have one role and they do it really well. Beyond that role, they pretty much suck so if you like them as that person, you'll always enjoy them. If you don't, well, you probably shouldn't bother watching their movies.

Just the opposite. From his performance as a psychotic serial killer in "The Minus Man" to "Bottle Rocket," "The Big Bounce" and "The Life Aquatic" he's proven himself a genuinely talented, versatile actor.
As for his cheesy mainstream comedies, well, he's only as annoying as the dreadful scripts and godawful direction.
Plus, the Butterscotch Stallion is awesomely, incredibly sexy.

Yes I'm not crazy about him as an actor. My fiance would agree with you 100%. If I ever rent a movie with him in it, he won't watch it at all. And I agree with the person above who said he plays the same type of character in every movie.

I didn't like him in Meet the Parents and don't get the big deal with this guy. I don't understand how he's getting into all the movies that he is. Maybe he's Steven Spielberg's love child!
