Mark Fowler aka Todd Carty said goodbye to the residents of Walford on a motorbike a few years ago and while he left the eastenders he went to join The Bill and played PC Gabriel Kent. In Eastenders, Pauline got news that her son Mark had died but it wasn't shown on air. Also he died in The Bill by jumping off the roof as he was a bent officer and he's no longer in The Bill on UK screens.
Also Pauline lies about the brain tumor to get Martin to not be with Sonia. It all leads up to her exit at Christmas.

Mark Albert Fowler was a fictional character in the popular British BBC soap opera EastEnders. He was originally played by David Scarboro from 1985-1987, but the role was recast in 1990 and played by Todd Carty.
Mark started out as a delinquent teenager, but returned to Walford a changed man when he was 22. Contracting HIV forced him to grow up fast and accept his responsibilities. He tried to live a stable life, however his time in Walford was frought with sadness. His first wife died, his two other wives left him for other men and he frequently found it difficult to accept the restrictions of his illness. He eventually died from an AIDS-related illness in 2004.

Yeah he died a couple of years ago on screen but Todd Carty who played him is now in The Bill and very much alive xxxx

Yes he died few years ago, you don't actually die from Aids you die from an Aids related illness, IE it lowers you immune system making you more open to infections
