Because a man will try to get away with whatever you let him get away with. All it takes is for you to seriously take charge and let him know in no uncertain terms what you will and will not accept. If he doesn't clean up his act, then you must take yourself out of the situation. It's either you or his mess. You would probably have better luck if you help, make it a double effort and keep it a couples thing to always clean everything together. Make a household rule to leave every room a little cleaner than when you came into it. Works for me.

As a man that doesn't do much around the house himself I will tell you this. Me and the wife have a deal with the dishes, summertime I do yardwork and she does inside stuff, winter I help with laundry, We have our daughters both taking the trash out. Our 8 year old is gonna start on the dishes as soon as we get home today, of course I will supervise to make sure they are clean. The other area I am bad is not picking up after myself, and as my wife would attest to that is probably what a good deal of the mess comes from.

Because the cliche says that women are the ones staying at home, cleaning the house, doing laundry, making dinner etc. and men are the ones going to work everyday and earning the money to live on.

LOL - Is yours on the couch too? They do as little as possible because we let them. We teach people how to treat us. I had him get up and mop the floor and help me tidy up. So I feel like we accomplished something. He did it willingly which is great.

You have to work on it and let him know that you are not the only one who lives in the house and you both need to contribute. It took a lot pain and difficulty for us to get to this point (a separation caused by things that had nothing to do with him just lazying around).

If you can bare it, just be glad that he's around. You have to decide if the battle is worth the pain that might come with it..

My man busts his butt all day 10-12 hours at work and pays all the bills, so I'm happy to do things around the house, and for him when he gets home. I expect him to do nothing, except take the heavy garbage can to the curb and back on Mondays. And I'm ok with it.

Not mine. Mine told me to take the day off and actually just gave my house a thorough once-over. He even dusted and the place is spotless.

I guess I'm just lucky.
