My grandparents are in their early 70's and not very active.
They are finacially stable, and anything they need or want, they get themselves. Every year I struggle to get them a nice gift and usually end up getting them a gift certificate to a restaurant.

This year I want to do something better than usual, yet still stay around $25 total.

Any ideas would be great.
(I am a single girl- oldest grandchild- in my mid 20's)

Thanks!

What ever you do don't get them something that has to be dusted, feed, or watered. If they have a favorite interest that has a magazine get them a subscription or better yet give them a coupon they can redeem for a day with you!

You should make them something. All grandparents love it when their grandchildren make them something. It shows that you spent a lot of time on them, and really thouht hard about what you could do. Everyone loves food. So you could try to make them some food item (but if their teeth are bad consider only making soft, easily, chewable food). A few people mentioned crafts, with family pics, which are always a good idea.

If you just really can't bring yourself to make anything, do they have any pets. If they have a dog or cat, maybe you could get their pet a cool toy, or something.

Anything that's for them specifically will work well.

Well you could do something personal like get some of their pictures starting when they were young and make a photo slide show and burn it to dvd, put in some music with it from the time era of their pictures, then slowly add your parents in and yourself (of the rest of the family) kinda like a family tree... I would use nero for that because it is free online, and I would burn it to a dvd so they could watch it on their dvd player, I would also pick out a photo and make a label out of it, so that would be something special... or just use all the christmas photos you have and put them in chronological order...

maybe that would help....good luck

I think a really nice gift would be some pottery mugs from a local artist...that way they can think of you each day when they have coffee or tea. Make sure they are comfortable to hold on to with plenty of room for 3 fingers in the handle.

With just $25, best to stick with the gift certificates. Otherwise, if they can eat chocolates still, the See's candies are a good treat.

I'm making my grandfather a scrapbook with all the grandkids pictures in it. I got most of my supplies at the dollar store!! For the whole thing including a nice album and some redeveloping of pictures it ran me $32.00 CAD. I make one for my grandmother last year and she cried she liked it so much.

Happy shopping and Happy Holiday's!

a fruit basket is always a winner with elders
do they watch movies ( gift card to blockbuster)
make something crafty they will enjoy
a picture in a frame of you and maybe the whole family
a pet ( they always say no no no but will love to have the company)
theres a lot of gifts you can do just have fun doing it and they will have fun enjoying it good luck

I give ornaments that I can record a message on. Grandparents love to hear them.
