Philosophy is thought and how we perceive things changes as we get older. We have to survive so look after ourselves our own interests and of the the people we are close to but at the same time I think its important to be positive about the needs of others and pay attention that we don't break or hurt others.
How we make our money is important. Do we make a contribution to humanity or not. Then we must also find our place
after travelling and have a family if we want.
Growing old ? I don't know that one yet.

I have to totally agtree with "i Damahn" The golden rule as taught by Jesus is a philosophy that a mere mortal would need a thousand pages to state ( or try to ).
In his simple statement, Do unto others as you would have them do unto you, is so profound in it's meaning that few think about it or understand the love that He wanted to share with us ( the path to the spirit), the love that is inherent in this message.
It takes thoughtful meditation for an hour or so and the light will go on in your head and you will understand the truth of your life. Why you are happy and joyful and your life is filled with peace and fulfillment OR you are angry, resentful, hate filled, depressed, or, suffer from the "why me God syndrome"
Think about it.
Thou I know evil exists in the world. I will not be a part of it and i will not lose my faith in the teaching of Jesus, because, no matter how many centuries pass or how much blood is shed these teachings will prevail.
Look to the goodness inside your self and the things that you need and desire to make you happy and alive and excited to get up in the morning.
How much would you give to have someone to kiss you, hug you, and tell you they love you as you go out the door to your daily work (wonderful, I bet) . What Jesus is saying is to beat them to it.
Some people have a problem expressing love and affection and they are seen as uncaring or cold but the truth is they have all these loving feelings but are afraid of showing weakness or fear.
Meditate on your self.
If you went up to your spouse and freely gave a hug, a kiss, and a I love you and maybe an apology if there's been stress in the relationship. Do you really think theres any way the response reaction would be negative (not a chance).
If you embrace the golden rule and want all the good things in life then do not deny them to others but offer them first.
Don't know who said it but EVERYONE loves a lover
Be one.

Look at the brand new diary lying before you on New Year's Day. In front of you are 365 blank pages: make sure that they are filled with interesting things (events, observations, happenings, activities, people, etc). Make sure that this diary is full, and that something memorable happens on each day.
Think thoughts which challenge you to greatness. Always enquire about things, and seek to find out more. Most importantly of all, entertain beliefs which entail that the world is great, life is glorious, and human nature is intrinsically positive.
Do that, and your life will be very rich indeed.

Many of the answers above remind me of the story of the king who asked the sages in his realm to summaize all wisdom into a set of books. When they came back with a 12 volume set, he asked that they go back and summarize wisdom in one volume. But when they did that, he said he was too busy to read the book and asked that they put the world's wisdom into one sentence. They spent years and finally came back to the king and said they had it--"This too shall pass." The king, being a king, didn't like the thought behind that sentence and sent the sages away to find one word. After much study they came back and reported the word-- "Maybe."

I like your philosophy but with it there comes problems, a paradox if you will. If you don't know where you are going you will likely end up in places where you do not want to be and when that happens it is impossible to not know where you are going because knowing you want to be somewhere else is the same thing as knowing where you want to be, elsewhere.
