From what you say, the answer is very likely yes. Go and see your doctor quickly (as today is Friday, this probably means Monday). Even if you don't feel down next day the doctor's surgery is open.
1. Your doctor may well be able to confirm whether depression really is the problem.
2. Your doctor may be able to do something short-term about it. I am not a great fan of "happiness pills" but one possibility is that some medication will get you into a state where you can address....
3. You need to address the reasons for your being in the mood you're in. They could be something a medic or similar professional could give you some treatment for, but much more likely there are some reasons in your life that you need to address by doing things differently.
4. I know it may be impossible if you are really down, but try to do things and keep busy. In particular, try to be with other people (I realise this may not be easy if you have a person-related problem for being down.). Join a club for something your interested in, or go to a church (or other place of worship) if your beliefs fit, or even just go on a window shop.

There is a possibility that you are a manic depressive (also known as bipolar). But you should not assume so because depression in any form is very difficult to diagnose.
Bipolar is a form of depression in which the subject suffers from both depression and manic phases.
Depression in bipolar is typical of any depression
The symtoms are as follows:
· Fatigue or decreased levels of energy
. Feelings of being slowed down physically and mentally.
· Loss of appetite, weight loss that is not due to dieting. Or, on the other hand, sometimes people can be overeating and gaining weight.
· Continuously anxious or depressed, saddened mood.
· Feelings that are guilt, helplessness, worthlessness.
· The things that you used to love are no longer interesting. Activities and hobbies seem to be lost.
· Lack of interest in sexual relations.
· Insomnia or suddenly waking up. Or, you may be oversleeping only to feel not rested.
· Thoughts of death, suicide or attempts of this type.
· Loss of concentration, attentiveness.
· In ability to make decisions, even simple ones.
· Physical conditions that do not seem to respond to treatments including chronic pain, headaches and digestive disorders.
Manic phase symtoms include:
· Poor judgment
· Inappropriate elation, feelings of being happy for no reason
· Inappropriate irritability, feelings of being mad, angry or upset that are unfounded
· Insomnia that is severe
· The speed at which you talk is increased. You may be louder too.
· Increased energy that is unfounded
· Disconnected and
thoughts that are racing through your mind
· Sexual desires are increased, often to much higher levels
· Social behavior that is in appropriate or out of character
If you have many of these symtoms do not be alarmed because bipolar may not be the cause. It could simply be a combination of other things and/or part of your personality which is why bipolar is so hard to diagnose.
The episodes of manic and depressive phases can be triggered by something happening in your life. Also, going from depression to manic phase (and vice versa) can happen extremely quickly.
You may find it difficult to keep up with your emotions and/or wonder why you feel a particular way.
Hope this helps,
Matt

If it was clinical depression you wouldn't have days when you feel happy and fun. I think it sounds more like a hormonal imbalance, it would probably be an idea to note your mood each day in a diary and see if it happens that you are more down at a set time each month, eg. before your period. You should see your doctor anyway, as crying for days on end isn't really normal. Good Luck :)

we all have these days i think, is there something on your mind? has something happened recently to make you feel this way? maybe you need to talk to someone about whats been going on recently. if you still feel down in a few days go to your doctor, he will give you all the advice you need. until then think positive and try to talk to as many people as you can. take care

If you're not depressed, you should be.
If you're not depressed, there's something wrong with you.
Take your pick.
