I'm not EMO, and i don't want to like these bands if they are emo, but i really like my chemical romance, and only 1 song from greenday (which is letterbomb if you were wondering).
I really like most of the My Chemical Romance songs, I just hope they aren't considered emo (even though they kinda look emo) because if they are emo, i need to stop listening to their songs or else i would be denying my principles.

well you see, I am from an EXTREMELY labeled society where I am in the highest labeled society. If you get catagorized with say a "fat" label, or "ugly" label then your life is over. My friends are just like that..
If i just forget the society labels, then I would be just acting emo because they are against labels and they fight them off with irony or whatever. Just doing that would make me what i don't want to be, emo.

actually missy, yes i am very close minded, and if someone told me to jump of a bridge, my close minded-ness would make me NOT jump off the bridge. Because part of being close minded is doing the oppesite of what people want/tell you to do

But -- on wikipedia.com it says that they deny being emo. SO the band its self said that they are NOT emo!!

but green day....is kinda punk rockish.

just cause the "genre"of a song is emo doesnt mean that you cnat listen to them cause all the kids at school will be like "omg youre such an emo[or scene kid]!"
i have friends that everyone calls preps and they love mcr.
i think you should just forget about that stuff
peopel at my school were call ing me a scene kid just cause i wore skinny jeans. did i care?no. i just told them to stfu and that they had no clue about what theyre saying.

My Chemical Romance could be considered Emo but if you like them, listen to them. Going by what you said, you sound extremely closed minded and I am sure that if someone told you to jump off a bridge, you would do it without thinking twice.

This is such a ridiculous question. How about being yourself? You need the approval of your peers that damn much? Hell, my friends like me because I am different. Who gives a flying f*ck if someone calls MCR emo or not. No matter what we say to you about that, it won't matter. and btw...MCR is a little emo
green day is no where emo more on the punk side
and just because they are emo doesnt mean you should stop listening to them

I've always associated MCR with Rock :P "Emo" is something that doesn't occur to me. We're all mere people really. BQ: Defoo! And, believe it or not, but the very first song I heard of them was actually Na Na Na.

If you want to be stereotypical and totally mainstream, My Chemical Romance can be considered Emo sometimes, but I think your reasoning is stupid an simple-minded. Get your own thoughts and forget society's lables!

My Chemical Romance does have emo tendencies but they are more melodic post-hardcore. That is most obvious with their first album I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love.
Green Day is pop punk. I cannot deny that, even with the fact that they write their music for the money. They are still poppy punk.

emo os just another stupid classification. how about like the music u want to like and f*** anyone who doesn't like it!! greenday existed before "emo" existed as a music classification, it would be bullsh** to put them in that category. keep it simple, hard rock, metal, alternative, grunge, soft rock, classic rock, punk....who gives a crap. i listen to bands because their music is good, i like what they have to say or because of their talent. not because they fit into a fad or particular grouping. if mcr is emo, which i think they r supposed to be, who gives a sh**, their music kicks *** and should speak for itself!! p.s. i'm not really a huge fan of theirs but they can entertain me.

ok in an interview with someone(i dont remember who) gerard said that after the music video for helena ppl started labeling them as emo. so no ther not. as for green day i dont think they are. but dude it shouldnt matter. thats kinda racist to say that u cant listen to them if ther emo. my friends are the same way as urs but i dont care wat they think and u shouldnt either. loosen up.
