Would you be able to sue them for emotional distress or recovering funds lost (paying for two households, attorneys fees from the divorce, etc.) that would have been theirs upon the death of both parents in the event the marriage would have lasted? Does anyone know of any cases where this has happened?

Did you personally have to pay for their divorce, households, attorneys fees etc.? If not, then no you can't sue a parent for having an affair. If you really don't like them for what they did, you can divorce your parent(s). But if your Mom and Dad covered all the costs for their divorce, you'll just have to suck it up buttercup, sometimes Mommies and Daddies don't get along.

No. In some states a spouse who has been the victim of infidelity can sue the "other" party for alienation of affection. But, these cases are few and far between and the courts typically try to stay away from lying, deception and matters of the heart.... And since you're not the spouse, I doubt that you have any legal standing in this instance.

Does the toddler choose for to bankrupt his/her mothers and dads with extra lawyer expenditures? This seems very available case yet very equivalent to reducing off your nostril to spite your face. finally all and sundry could be a economic loser. Suing for emotional misery could be a efficient healing technique for some in an exceedingly dysfunctional subject, yet money lost will lend to extra money lost AND the toddler might get written out of all and sundry's wills.
