I am looking at MP3 players on Ebay to buy for my kids for Christmas. The one I am looking at says it has flash memory only. Can you please tell me what that means. What I want to do is to download music from Limewire and transfer it onto this MP3 player. Will I be able to do that ?

Flash memory means you can electronically add and remove MP3 files (music) to/from the memory inside the MP3 player via the USB port. Its a type of memory with no moving parts inside. Yes, you will be able to download music from Limewire onto the player. Hope this helps :-)

Flash memory is a type of chip that is able to store data. This data can be music and it can be electrically erased and then rewritten to.
Flash memory is used in mp3 players, digital cameras, mobile phones and usb devices.

It is less susceptible to shock than hard drives but does' the same job.

FLASH MEMORY is a type of storage... you can get a 2GB* mp3 player in Argos/Curry's for £24

*2GB is a HUGE SIZE more than enough for the kids...
rip cd tracks in windows media player... and if you use Limewire, make sure you scan everything with antivirus before using.. x

"Flash Memory" is a term used for identifing mp3 players that are lighter and have no moving parts inside (i.e. iPod Shuffle). They syncronize faster than the average mp3 player too. The downsides are the fact they have little memory (the biggest size is 1 gigabyte!) and can break easily.
And yes, u can use mp3s download from Limewire.

Flash memory is a trade name for electrically erasable programable read only memory. Flash differs from regular EEPROM in that it is erased and programmed in blocks. It used to take a long time to change information in EEPROM because it had to be cleared and written byte by byte and the algorithms for this differed by manufacturer.

Another way of looking at it is that it is non volatile memory.

For your purposes Flash is fine, it's just like saying it has a disk drive of that size.
