It is a tricky situation to protect yourself and your family, here in Kansas, a man shot and killed an intruder, he was free from federal prosecution, but he could have been held on civil charges by the intruder's family.
It is also true that if your dog bites an intruder, or he gets hurt on your property(cuts his arm breaking the window) you can be sued, also if you shoot him it cannot be in the back or it is consider that he is "running away" even if he is facing the wall your stereo is on.
The laws need to be changed to protect the people in general, and not the criminals.

If you intend to learn how to end any kind of abuse the you will need to have the program of Bruce Perry, Patriot Self Defense , a course that you simply will find it here https://tr.im/2AV5m
Patriot Self Defense can teach you a very efficient self-defense program that's been field-tested in properties, at government events and on a number of the meanest roads on earth against probably the most questionable, clever and dangerous criminal.
With Patriot Self Defense you will discover out that's much easier then you expected to guard yourself because you don't need to be a professional or have energy, you have to understand how to do particular movements, simple movements but deathly.

move to Colorado
where they have "make my day laws "
which allows for much more leeway when shooting someone
you use lethal force when he is running away
our even outside on your front yard
there was even a case where a man shot and killed his next door neighbor's husband when a spousal fight spilled outside to the front yard andh e feared for the neighbors ( the wife ) safety, and shot and killed him, no charges were filed. there is a famous saying
I'ld rather be tried by 12 thand carried by 6. even if you do get charged, some juries simply will not convict if they feel sympathy

Without a doubt YES. The law seems to offer more protection to these scum, than to honest decent homeowners, some of whom are struggling to make ends meet. Protect your home and family in any way that befits the situation. Jim

I think you have to look at this objectively for a second. Would you beat the living crap out of a child who was in your garden to collect their ball? what about a drunk who falls over your wall and into your front garden?

I think we should be able to defend what is inside our homes with whatever force we can but we have to draw a line somewhere or we will descend into chaos.

Yes you definitely should. In fact responsible adults should be able to keep a licensed firearm in their home. Unfortunately British governments will never allow law abiding citizens to protect themselves and family adequately. Consequently only the criminals are armed.

I think in most countries a citizen could claim self defense in the case of home invasion. If you fear for your or your family's safety, then force reasonable to the offense seems forgiveable (reasonable meaning no shooting a missionary because he sticks his brochure holding hand through the doorway).

Of course, there can be no excuse for using unregistered or illegal weapons during said self defense.

Yes, you can. If you believe that you or other occupants of the property are in danger you may use reasonable physical force to protect yourself or others. You do not have to wait to be attacked.

It actually is now lawful in the U.K. to protect yourself and your family to whatever extent is necessary - you can even kill an intruder as long as you are convinced that your life or the lives of your family are at risk.

I was told by a policeman a few months ago that if a burglar brok into my house and slipped on a wooden floor and perhaps broken a leg etc., he could sue me......the law is an absolute ***!!
