I am not sure about my favorite character. All the names you mentioned are obvious favorites of most readers(including mine). But I think the most complex character is Snape. We get a little glimpses of his many sided character. The scene in which Harry sees a whimpering frightened boy being yelled at by his father in Book 5. Then the scene in which he is held upside by James Potter. Lily tries comes to his rescue only to have him viciously attack her verbally. His rescue of Harry in book 1. His role in helping Lupin’s maintain his sanity in book 3 And finally the constant reminder that though he is “evil” in the eyes and viewpoint of all the major characters, Dumbledore’s consistent faith in him. What was the reason Dumbledore had such faith in him? Consider the case of Lily, could it be he was in love with her? Is that why he viciously attacks her when she tries to help. No man in love wants to be humiliated in front of the woman he loves. Could this be the true reason of Snape and James rivalry? Could this also explain Dumbledore’s faith in him? If Lily was Snape’s true love he certainly would not side with the man that murdered her! Snape’s hatred of Harry could be that Harry is the constant reminder of what he had lost. Finally if Snape is everybody’s favorite person to hate surely that makes him a very interesting and colorful character.

I'd have to say Luna "Looney" Lovegood. The way she's written cracks me up. She's her own person and immune to peer pressure, mainly because she's in her own little world. In real life people like this are often thought of as "wierd" or "crazy" because they don't fall into exactly what is considered "normal". Though the main character's provide examples of being brave, doing what's right, and other aspects of classic heroes, Luna Lovegood provides one of the best lessons for readers: Be yourself.
Whether it's wearing large tacky earings, a roaring lion-head hat, tucking her wand behind her ear like a pencil, reading upsidedown, or believing far-fetched stories in the Quibbler, Luna knows what she likes and doesn't care what others think. She isn't afraid to express her opinion and speaks her mind.
It's too easy to pick one of the main characters (Harry, Ron, and Hermione), but I like the dynamics of the relationships between individual pairings.
Harry & Ron - The best buds dynamic. It's not just their friendship, but the realistic clashes between them that makes their relationship imperfect. The tension created between the differences in wealth and popularity are one of the things that not only serves to drive a wedge between them, but is also simultaneously serving as a uniting force, since deep down each wants part of the other's life.
Harry & Hermione - The "Just Friends" couple. The type of close friendship with the opposite sex that allows the other insight into romantic relationships. Though in this case Hermione provides far more advice for Harry than he does for her. She has provided clues and insights on various occations (especially in Oder of the Pheonix) whenever Harry can't figure out something about Cho.
Ron & Hermione - The future couple. They are the classic example of "opposites attract" and (in my opinion) their bickering only serves as a means of hiding their real feelings. Hermione is a bookworm, Ron's a slacker. She's uptight and passionate about larger causes (like the S.P.E.W and the D.A. Club) beyond herself. Ron's kinda selfish, easy going and could careless about government policies unless they affect him directly. Every time they agrue I just want to say "Shut up and kiss already!" and I'm just waiting for the moment they pair up. Authur Weasley, would probably be thrilled to have muggle in-laws to answer all the questions he's been dying to ask.
Of the secondary characters Fred & George Weasley are also a favorite. I like the biting-wit and mischievious nature of the twins is what gives them such a fun edge when they interact with other characters. The twins add a lot of fun and flavor in the books that doesn't get into the movies because they over shadow the main character's at times. I wonder how much of the twins' antics will make it into the Order of the Pheonix movie.

Sirius is my favorite.
Sirius is a good guy. He may be rough around the edges but he is loving and has helped Harry the best he could while he was alive. He's got a good heart and knows what he is talking about, he can stick up for you and sure knows how to pick a fight (LOL).
Fred/George and Remus Lupin come in real close though.

This is a hard one!
I love Ron's wit, Hemione's wisdom. Dumbledore's "fathering" towards Harry, Harry's innocence, and yes even Malfoy's evilness. BUT, I have two very favorites. Snape, who I feel is completely misunderstood. His biting wit, and great lines get me every time. And, Sirius. Poor guy, never gets a break, finaly finds "family" and looses it all...so very sad!

there's so many but my over all favorites are Hermione and Ginny. Hermione is brave smart and nice (with a bit of an attitude) but really cool. Ginny is also brave and smart but obviously shes pretty and nice id say something else but i don't want to give anything away in case you haven't read harry potter six. Ron is really cool, hes really funny to but still Hermione and Ginny are still my favorites. they are all very cool but defiantly those two and Sirius so sad anyway good luck with your answers :P

Definitely Severus Snape. Why? He's mysterious, dark, dangerous, silky, smooth, and a bloody genious! Need I say more?
He's also innocent....and on Dumbledore's side. Don't believe me? Just keep waiting for July 7, 2007...

My favorite character is the character everyone loves to hate. Severus Snape. His character is fascinating. I'm waiting for the last book to come out cause I'm dying to find out whether he is good or not. He always walks that fine line between good and evil. The movie has also made me like this character more becuase of the facial expressions he gets. They did a wonderful job when they brought that character to life.

Neville is my favorite. I just want to comfort him. He's so afraid of disappointing people.
I also love those bad as hell twins. Fred and George. And since I love those always in to mischief, I gotta love Peeves as well. That damn thing is always up to no good.

Hermoine Granger, because she's a girl who broke the stereotype that smart girls usually only focus on school. And that they can't hit!
