Space has been successfully colonized for hundreds of thousands of your years, but not by Humans. Over the centuries, your planet was a curious place to visit once or twice and was not considered very interesting . Sure, your wars showed us how undeveloped you are as a species. Your infantile,(in cosmic terms) dependence on god concepts does not bode well for you and neither does your penchant to breed beyond your planet's ability to sustain you. We are now showing an interest in you because it is not often that we get to observe a species commit suicide. You are so close to maturing as a sentient species and it will be a shame to see you kill yourselves. There are just not enough of you becoming rational enough to force the issue. You let the least among you determine your fate, so be it.

See Pal , " Necessity is the mother of invention" , If you believe in this simple rule, yes its possible, provided that space exploration/colonisation becomes the ultimate solution for the very existence of mankind. As of now we humans dont even bother to maintain the only Blue Planet we have , our Mother Earth , to sustain its resources and keep the natural balance in equilibrium. With the mentality & attitude we have towards nature is totally disappointing and destructive. We humans cant even keep & maintain what we have ( which is tailor-made for us) , how will we flourish somewhere else in space ?

Yes. Right now though it is dangerous and expensive. As our understanding of space grows and technology helps us develop safer ways of getting there, we will likely see colonization. The moon and Mars are primary candidates for Early attempts at colonization.
