I find it rather depressing as people tend to think that exactly at the stroke of midnight thier whole life is going to change and they will become rich/famous or unrealisitlcly lucky.

You're not the only one. I don't enjoy them either.

I have had several New Years Eves that havent gone as planned and the whole evening has been an anti climax. Also, I don't really like socialising so I go to partys with a brave smile on my face when I really just want to be at home.

I think it is so false when at the stroke of midnight everyone is kissing and hugging etc as if the new year is so wonderful but in a few days time life will be the same as usual and everyone will be at eachothers throats again.

This sounds really miserable, and I am sorry I don't share the majority's opinion - But as long as you enjoy yourselves....Have a Happy New Year!!!

No. New Year's Eve is often a time of rather forced parties, and feeling you have to stay up till midnight socialising with people you don't want to. And for some people drinking too much and later regretting it.

There is, however, one sensible thing abut New Year. Whilst breaking New Year Resolutions is another depressing thing to do it is no bad thing to sit down periodically and thinking out how you might improve your life. It may be silly to think of being rich, but you may for instance wish to think realistically if you should change job, get some more education or take up a new hobby. New Year (or perhaps your birthday) is as good a time to do this as any. If you do have such a sit down, you need not just to identify what you want to do but to plan out how you will achieve it.

I had a boss once who told me he sat done every birthday to review his life and decide what to do to improve it in the next year. I thought at the time it was a rather formalistic thing to do, but having drifted into my fifties I wish I had done the same earlier in my life.

i've got hated new years eve for years. it quite is in basic terms an excuse to get under the impression of alcohol. I realised that i replaced into going to events miles removed from homestead that have been often full of the two strangers or human beings i did no longer care approximately besides. because it quite is all a pair of variety besides, I plan some thing lively for brand spanking new years eve and objective to be drained and in mattress by making use of 11.00. My wide-unfold factor approximately new three hundred and sixty 5 days is being up early and feeling solid on information years day.

Life is what you make it hunny.
If you can't celebrate the dawn of a brand new year, then you must feel like you are lacking something in your life.
Personally, I will be spending new years eve in Queensland on Surfers Paradise with the people who matter and looking forward to a whole new time of my life to live, love and enjoy.
If you are not realistic when you make your pledges, then they become a joke, if you resolve to love the ones that matter and live your life with them to the full, then how can you possibly find that depressing??

i dont normally like new years eve but i cant wait for this year cos my friends from liverpool are coming up and my mum and dad are away on holiday so am gonna have a big party!
i know what you mean though it is a bit depressing, especially once you realise all the things that had to be done last year are still on this years list like driving etc...
But then again i suppose celebrating new year is just an excuse for a big party and laugh and i cant really argue with that.

HAVE A GOOD ONE! XX

I don't like drunken people who make a fool of themselves. I don't go to any parties on New Years Eve, I stay home, eat some smoked oysters and watch classic movies. The next morning I don't have a hang over and start the New Year feeling great.

People generally are unsatisfied with their lives and always think that something better is in the future, but it is usually more of the same. Just go and enjoy the drinks, and try not to ruin their little fantasy, if it makes them happy for a little while, so what ?

I get worked up over it for that exact reason... "this year will be the best of my life.. it will be different etc.etc." but a couple of days later I start getting a bit low.. realising that things are exactly the same as always.

I don't like the party.. having to go to OH's friends for it and don't think they like me much :S

I only go out that night for the rum and coke's. By the stroke of midnight, I really don't care.
