When laying claim to something that is not real or not yours or, building on something in hopes that it will elevate your personal position is a way of drafting admiration from another. We all know this doesn't work and are perplexed why people do it.

I have two theories on this subject: It's possible that a person was raised in such a way that, in order to be recognized or get attention they had to be pretentious towards peers or family or both. This persons entire growing life was filled with attention getting technique and it worked to some extent.

Next: There is the idiot! Doesn't matter what the situation or where, they will start the act on a moments notice. These people are social rejects and should be shot immediately.... Just kidding, let them know just once and see what happens. If it doesn't work, find another friend or group to hang with.

If it's your wife or husband that's sad!

Hmmm... Good question.

I think a lot of people try too hard to fit into society's expectations of what is 'wrong' and 'right'. They conform to the unofficial standards that society deems ideal. They may not truly fit the image they portray, but they continue to perform for fear of being disapproved of.

Other times, people simply haven't grasped their full identity. They don't know who they are and become "posers", trying on different personality 'suits', exploring which fits better.
