they probably interfere with the transmission TO your TV not at the point where the signal is received


Working in a broadcast field I know that sun spots DO interfere with transmissions

Broadcast TV signals are strong, line of sight, and received by antennas aimed horizontally (not toward the sun). Sunspots sometimes cause interference to TV (and other) signals transmitted from satellites to earth. They do increase the reflectance of the ionosphere, causing more distant signals to skip and potentially interfere with local signals. But again, the local signals are usually strong and the interference is minimal. They more commonly interfere with data and telephone signals from satellites. This has less effect on us now that more of our telephone and data transmission uses fiber optic cable rather than satellites.
