I have 2 very good friends that I work with. They have been arguing over a situation that has nothing to do with work. And nothing to do with me. I have asked them to leave me out of it. For a couple of reasons.
1. I do not want to be caught in the middle. And I believe that they should work it out between them.
2. We work in the Emergency room of a hospital, and I am their supervisor. And I think the argument should not be brought up at work.
But each one insist on bringing it up at work. And calling me at home. I really value the friendships that we share.
Any advice on how to handle this situation, and still keep their friendship? From a friends point of view, but also from a supervisors point of view?
Thank You
Kali :-)

You should sit down with both of them and explain to them that they cannot bring their personal arguments to work, that it causes an interference and a distraction to the working environment. Also, they are possibly costing you your job too, so it has to stop. Then tell them to leave you out their arguments. If they are really your good friends, they will respect what you say, as a friend and as their supervisor.

If they keep dragging you into it just don't talk to them ( sorry if that might be a little hard if you work with them). When they finally realize that you aren't talking tell them that they weren't just hurting themselves by arguing and dragging you in to it but hurting you. Ask them to please respect you and stop dragging you in to it. If they keep disrespecting you then maybe they aren't worth the work...
this is hard, good luck

sit them down and go over the facts:
Talk about what's goin' on and y there fighting. Ask them if this fight is worth risking their job over and if most importantly, it's worth losing their friendship over.

hope it helps =] hang in there!
