A bluestocking is an old fashioned term for an educated or very studious woman. It was a slightly derogatory term used aminly by men who were probably a little afraid of the woman's intelligence.
I would have no real objection to being called a bluestocking.
the description might have been used to define the fact that academia and glamour ought not to go together; " bluestocking" probably described the type of unglamorous hosiery that clever women were supposed to wear.

It means you are an intellectual female.

It originated in the early 20th century when women were starting to go to universities. It was a bit derogatory, since education was not seen to be be very feminine

Blue stocking means you are old family, like Mayflower type old family. I dunno why blue, but hey that's what it means
