In FL, you must file a police report in order to get a duplicate license if you do not want to pay the full amount. After you make the report with the local law enforcement agency, you will be given a report number. This number is needed in order for you to acquire your new DL without having to pay the full amount.

Were you robbed or was the wallet stolen from a car, etc? Either way, as long as it was a theft, make a report. DO NOT make a report if you just lost it or misplaced to avoid the fee. Making a false police report in FL is a crime. BTW the fee for the duplicate license is $1.00 as long as it was taken in a theft or other crime.

License place? Don't you mean the Department of Motor Vehicles?
And yes, of course you can get another one, but you do have to pay a small fee. I don't know what it is in Florida.

you pay about 10-11 dollars at the local DMV ( department of motor vehicles. They won't report it to the police you have to choose to do that yourself. There is no way around the fee regardless of the situation.
