Because of their position in the chest and back it is not possible to stabilise fractured ribs to allow healing as you would a fractured leg or arm.
If you are suffering from what you think may be a fractured rib and haven't already done so, you should seek a qualified medical opinion since fractured ribs could also cause damage to underlying organs such as the lungs and spleen. Internal bleeding and breathlessness could result. Take painkillers after you've had a proprer medical examination otherwise you could be masking a potentially serious problem.

No - your rib cage needs to move each time you breathe so encasing it to prevent if moving would mean you would probably expire! Pain killers and restriction of excess movement, lifting heavy objects etc is probably the only thing you can do. It might hurt when you laugh too - so just smile broadly instead. Hope it gets better before all the Christmas hugs under the mistleto!

The answer is no ,these days we do not give no treatment at all for fractured ribs, just take pain killers for pain relief, take it easy.Fractured ribs can take mths to heal .Just make sure you rest the best you can, this will help with the healing process. If you have further problems breathing etc go bck and see your gp.Good Luck

i think you have to wait until your body fixes it on its own. doctors will still probably give you additional care so it can heal faster. i hope you're not thinking of breaking your own ribs or anything... or if they're already broken, how are you on the computer

A doctor can't,all he can do is refer you to the hospital.
You would need an x-ray,to make sure the rib hasn't damaged anything else.

No. Broken ribs heal themselves and take ages to heal.

no, just bandage you in a pointless way to make you feel better - kind of like when you are a kid and the nurse hands you a lolly as the doctor jabs a needle in from behind!

No. Years ago they used to stap it up but it was causing lung punctures so they leave it now and you have to put up with the pain.
