Does this mean I'll be going 2 weeks overdue and have to be induced?

It seems that the baby isn't going to come naturally!

Who knows - wait until you're full term at 40 weeks first before assuming anything xx

If its your first baby then more often than not you go late but rarely have to be induced.

I was due 26th June this year and went over and was given a date to be induced for 7th july but as it happened like most the thought of being induced scares the hell out of you and u tend to go natrually. I went into what they call proper labour on the 6th of july and that was when i got my show and waters broke.

To speed things along when you see your midwife get her to sweep your membranes that can bring it on. Also plenty of sex as something in the seimen can cause the cervix to thin. Or you could try the old trick of drinking castor oil

I would leave it as long as you can your baby will come when its ready. Good Luck though xx

No, it just means you're normal! First babies are, on average 8 days "late" for a start. And the amount of time it takes for things to get moving - for the cervix to efface (soften) and thin enough for the "show" to come out, and to then begin to dilate - varies from woman to woman. Some do it gradually over days or even weeks, some very quickly in a few hours. Relax! You have a whole month until you need to be worrying about induction :-)

No, it doesnt mean you will be 2 weeks over due.
Your body will start to work out what to do when the time is ready. Anyway they say the baby has most control over when it is going to be born, getting off some sort of hormone. So maybe baby just isnt quite ready.
Your cervix should come forward soon if it hasnt already and when it first starts to open and you get contractions that is when inactive labour starts so dont panic it will all work out!

You've got 2 weeks relax!
Plenty of time for things to happen. Yes first babies are generally late but rarely by 2 weeks.
Also remember you do not have to be induced. Noone is forcing you, they can do traces to make sure baby is still ok. There is a chance maybe that your dates are slightly out, also if you have a different cycle than the average 28 days your sue date could be wrong.
Good luck!

Not necessarily. Until your actually overdue there's no way to know when that baby is coming. Many women are closed up right until they go into labor. It's so hard to wait but you've still got 2 weeks left anything can happen

All in good time it will happen before you know it. There is the possibility of going over my sister n law was 42 weeks with her first before they induced so it all depends on when the baby wants to come.

theres nothing worse than feeling like ur baby is never going to arrive, i do no when u get 2 40+ weeks the midwife normally gives u an internal and streches and sweeps ur cervix this helps sometimes start labour (not straight away its an advantage if its ur first child) they sometimes do it at the hospital, try castor oil 2 ive heard this works hope all goes well 4 u good luck x x

Well you're officially fullterm but at 38 weeks you've not quite
got to your due date so I wouldnt worry just yet.

Is this your first child? Is the head engaged?

If its your first child the head engages a little earlier than subsequent children so I would expect it to be engaged by now.

You cervix wil only start to open as your uterus begins to contract. Contractions having the dual action of pushing your baby down and opening your cervix.

don't worry, just relax. Baby will come when he/she is ready. Birth is really out of everyone's hands until it really starts happening. my baby was two weeks late and i had to be induced. don't be scared if this happens, it's still lovely (and painful) and you're baby will soon be here safe in your arms. my litle boy is 8 1/2 months now and i still remember when he was born and loved every 37 hrs 40 minutes of it. fab. good luck
