No, no, no. You all suggest dogs cos you have never owned a Parrot. Yes! A parrot...they are very intelligent, they can talk and never forget anything, so be careful how you treat them.
It seems they have the same behaviour and capacity to learn just as a three year old.
I got one...his name is Pancho. He is the best thing I ever owned. My friends envy me, they all wanna take Pancho with them back to their house. rruuuaaa lorito!

As long as you place your dog in a suitable kennels, it is fine to go away from time to time if you have a dog. It can be a nice break for the dog too! Cats are good for people who can't commit to 24/7 care for an animal as they tend to be fairly independent although any animal will need some looking after and you shouldn't invest in a pet if you can't commit to the time and attention (as well as financial commitment) that owning an animal presents long term! Most domestic animals like to spend time with their owners, fish are about the only exceptions although even these need cleaning out, feeding etc.

Sorry, but dogs are just the only animal coming close to that. They are the best, lovable, animals, and changed my life when I got one. It shocked me. Now, my house is full of love, and it seems oh so different. Though, you need to get a yellow lab. They are the top dog, ( World Records Book) and are the most loveable breed I have ever came close to. They don't let you down, easy to train ,and the happiest and most loving in the universe. Hope I could help ;)

Try a hamster. When tamed, they can be lovely and full of personality too! We have just lost our little pinky-nosed hamster Fritz at the age of 2 years and 7 month, who gave us a lot of love, fun and livelyness every day! It would be better not to leave them alone, as they get a bit depressed when the house is too silent and they are not stimulated in coming out to play. However, in emergencies, they are perfectly capable of taking care of themselves for a few days. As long as there is enough food and water in the cage/tank.

We will definitely fill the gap with another Hammy after the Xmas break!

Good luck

i think dogs are the best pets to own because they are so fun to play with, lay around with, and to just watch them being silly. Cats are very low maintanance but they can also be very boring!!!! There is really nothing that compares to a dog in the aspect of being fun, smart and loving.

I don't think there is any pet that compares to a dog. When you go on holiday you may have to get a family member to take care of the dog, or use a kennel or a dog sitter, but it is a small price to pay for the love, loyalty, and devotion a dog will give you and your family.

i would say a cat. Cats are very independant. They are low maintenance, as they clean themselves, and go out when they want to do there business or take themselves out for fresh air, so dont need to be walked liked dogs. Dont get me wrong, they love to be spoiled and loved. You can get a catflap, so when your on holiday, they wont be locked in or out. You will just need someone to put food in their bowl and water (a nice neighbour/friend/relative).

I got my cat in January. He's 3years old from a cats home. He's so loving a settled in real good. They will tell you if the cat is use to children or not, so you wont be left guessing.

No they're aren't but I think a good solution is a clever small dog. Get a Jack Russell. Low maintenance and little exercise. They are funny, so loving and affectionate and lively. But they're also happy to sleep on a car-seat all day! Very flexible which is what you need.

I think you should get a dog also you can give the dog on the holidays to the relitives or to a close friend and give them everything that the dog needs. A dog is a loving and loyal creature!
