women V men?

why is it OK for women to have Anne Summers parties and openly buy dildos and vibrators when guys are looked at like sad get's who can't get a girlfriend when they buy similar things? Women always refer to the "pervy old get" when they see men in these circumstances.

It comes from the olden days. Women have been the recipients of sexual oppression (female circumciscion, the 'myth of the female orgasm', Freud calling clitoral orgasms immature, chastity belts, male polygamy/polyamory but no similar system for women, women not being able to choose their own lovers, the double standard of whores but experienced men, etc.) for so long, that by trying to reclaim our sexuality, it has made it seem like the way to do that is by being as openly, wildly sexual as possible.

Therefore a woman who buys a vibrator is seen as being free and throwing off the yoke of oppression that says she isn't sexual, or is undeserving of an orgasm- that she is there to sexually serve men and that's it. So we applaud it happily. Compare that to men, who have always had every sexual option available to them, and it's very much old news, not to mention that we already have a stereotype that views men as shallow pigs who will screw anything that moves. Hence our being okay with women being sexual, and men just being disgusting when they do the same thing. A woman buying a vibrator is her being independent; a man buying a similar stimulating sex toy for himself is seen as not being able to get it anywhere else. It's a horrid, ridiculous double standard.

Personally, I think we should applaud everyone who is sexually mature, knows what he/she wants, and enjoys it, men or women.

What similar things can men buy? You mean like a pocket vagina? I don't think I would think anything bad of a man buying that. Now if you are talking about men buying hookers, that's a lot different than a woman buying a vibrator. I don't think much of men who pay for sex - it is sad that they would pay for that, and paying for sex usually goes hand in hand with some kind of personality issue/problem/dysfunction.

I can only answer for my self. I don't feel that way towards men.
and I am sure there are other women besides my self that don't feel that way..
