Yamaha makes a good nylon stringed acoustic for beginners. The sound is rich enough to please but the price won't ruin your budget.

Well, start with an achoustic because it strengthens the fingers and makes you work harder. (I know it stinks starting with achousthic but its what all musicions say to do) I started out with a Washburn Guitar that had an electric tuner built in. Once you've toughend up your fingers and you have the basic skills down go ahead and buy an electric guitar.
